The Black Wings seem to know nothing about the motivations of the Black Mage.

The point of creating the Seal Stones was to provide a way to turn back the clock if anything bad happened. When the heroes discovered the Black Mage's plans to destroy Maple World, they set about to create the Seal Stones to stop him.
